Ganesh Himal Region Trek

Ganesh Himal region falls in Dhading district, one of the nearest districts attached to Kathmandu. The region is popular for majestic views of Ganesh Himal ranges and also for cultural and natural diversity. 

Journey to Ganesh himal region goes towards the foothill of Ganesh Himal ranges which is a cluster of nearly 20 peaks. The trekking trail offers spectacular views of Ganesh I (7406m), Langtang (7300m), Annapurna (8091m), Fishtail (6990m), Manaslu (8163m), Lamjung (6800m), Ganesh II, Ganesh III, Ganesh IV, Boudha Himal, and Hiunchuli.

In terms of flora such varieties as rhododendrons, orchids, berries, ferns and Jasmine, oak, blue pine and rhododendron are easily found. Altogether 526 species of plants, 300 spices of birds and many attractive wild animals have been recorded in this region.

One of the major highlights of this trekking region is the natural exploration of twin waterfall Ganga Jamuna. Ganga Jamuna is regarded as a popular pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists. The famous Tripura Sundari temple at Salyankot hosts an annual fair in November, three days before the full moon, when people from far and wide make a pilgrimage. It is believed that this holy stone preserves the divine power as water originates from there. The highest points of the trekking are Shingla pass (4200m) and Pansang La pass (4100m).

While trekking in Ganesh himal region, you will have the opportunity to witness a wealth of Nepali culture and traditions of both Buddhist and Hindus. The native people of this area are Gurungs, Tamangs, Magars, Newars and Brahmins.  If you wish you can also enjoy home stay facilities that will allow you to observe local lifestyles, cultures, food, and customs. 

Being one of the newly introduced trekking routes in Nepal, trekking in the Ganesh Himal region is an off-the-beaten affair. Trekking in this region can be arranged on both lodge based and full board camping basis.
